Walking to Do – Ted Leo and the Pharmacists
This is nerve-wracking to the extreme. All night, things were looking bad for Webb in Virginia, but with only 2% of the vote left, thousands of Democratic votes poured in from Richmond and he took the lead. Now it looks like he’ll hold onto the advantage, though we’ll have to wait a long, long time for the provisional ballots and the inevitable recount to find out.
And things couldn’t be closer in Missouri, either.
But if…IF…we can get those two and hold onto Montana, we could take back the Senate. Combined with only the second reversal of the House in 50 years (1994 and then all the way back until 1954!), and we’re looking at the possibility of a Democratic landslide.
It’s been a long time since we’ve been on the winning side of an election, and it feels good. But all that said…”don’t count your chickens before they’re hatched” and as many other cliches as you need to keep you on your toes. It’s not over yet, and I’ll be wringing my hands checking the results late into the night and tomorrow.
Even if it all works out, this is just one election and doesn’t mean a whole lot if we can’t turn this into something bigger. So let’s roll our sleeves up, and get to work. There’s a whole lot of walking to do…
