Tied me up in conversation

Sticking with the Texas theme, a quick touch today on a band from Austin I know very little about: Summer Wardrobe. They’ve got a lot of Big Star and Tom Petty (the jangly Petty more than the rocking Petty) going on here. They make very fine use of the slide guitar – a deft touch here and there to give the whole thing a lot more depth.

Actually, they remind me a lot of the early Soul Asylum (which is a compliment, though people only familiar with “Runaway Train” might not get that). Check out these two from their self-titled record.
