Don’t think it’s no good for it all

Orbit is yet another blast from my post-grunge, pre-indie rock days growing up in the Pacific Northwest. They were one Pixies/Replacements influenced band among many, but I always thought they had quite a bit more talent than the rest. They got some modest airplay with “Medicine” about 10 years ago, if my memory is accurate, but never really hit the big-time and they broke up a few years later.

Medicine

They didn’t leave a particularly long or noteworthy catalogue but this song is definitely worth checking out if you are into big hooks and want a reminder that the mid 90s alternative sound really had a lot going for it. It’s off their major-label debut Libido Speedway, which is a more gritty version of Better Than Ezra (yet another mid 90s band that doesn’t get as much credit as they deserve these days), or a more melodic (and, to be fair, less talented) version of the Pixies. Other songs worth checking out if you get the chance include “Bicycle Song,” “Wake Up,” and “Nocturnal Overdrive.”
