Something’s gotta give today

Got back to New Hampshire today after a red-eye flight through Cleveland (I don’t recommend that strategy, for what it’s worth), and it’s nice to be home. Which is weird, because I still consider Washington to be “home,” too. I guess it’s not a bad thing to have two homes on either side of the country – ultimately it’s just where people that you care about live.

Home – Black Happy

There are millions of songs about home, but here’s one you probably haven’t heard, from a band called Black Happy, a Christian metal-turned alt/funk/horns/metal hybrid from the Northwest who were moderately famous for a brief period of time in the early 90s. Their one full-length record was called Peghead, and it’s really got some great songs on it, this being one of them. And actually, while I’m at it, let me post another killer tune from them for a beautiful summer afternoon:

The Life and Times Of… – Black Happy

Now that’s what a chorus is supposed to sound like! And they put the horns to great effect, too.
