Traced in by the sun and then forever mine

I made the new record from Jeremy Enigk (former leader of 90s icons Sunny Day Real Estate) my #17 record of 2006. If you loved that record as much as I, you’ll be excited to hear that he’s got another one out this year, with different versions of a number of the tracks from World Waits, as well as some “new” (some have been around unofficially for years) tracks.

Of the alternate versions, my favorite is probably “Canons,” which is far more open and free-flowing than the original. It was great last year, but this one is truly haunting. As for the new songs, all are good, but my favorite has to be “On the Wayside” which gallops unlike almost anything else Enigk has ever done.

The record is called The Missing Link (eMusic), and it came out last month.
