So I posed a wonderful youtube clip yesterday – of hundreds of thousands of people gathered on the Mall, singing “This Land is Your Land” – including the ‘radical’ verses about private property and the like. It was touching and inspiring to think about an America where it was possible to declare forthrightly a belief in a world that is shared rather than one that’s cordoned off and commodified.

Sometimes this country is exasperating beyond belief. Still, when I wake up tomorrow, it will be one hour exactly until we get our second ex-President named Bush. So today, I’m just going to let it slide, and keep looking forward. And believe that somewhere off in the distance, there’s a land where what people care about matters more than what they own.
