Even Stupak is now on board, so all the pieces seem to be falling into place. But I’m not going to feel confident until I see a 216 show up on the big board.
Watching things on CSPAN right now, I’m reminded of how ridiculous our formal structures of government are. We’ve got 18th century habits for a world full of X-boxes and punk rock.
When it’s all said and done – if everything does work out – I think we’re going to look back and marvel at Nancy Pelosi, who is (Sam Gamgee style) the clear hero in this whole saga.
